The husky youngster entered - 10 individual events and won all 10 in record-setting times. Holland set marks for half the total number of 20 broken dur- ing the meet. The only other swimmer with more:than one record was Ter- race’s Jocelyn Coxford and she was held to two new marks. Single records were set by Christina Holland and Garth Coxford of Terrace, Kim Westgate and Daniel Anthony of Kitimat, and Paul Prevost, Jill Logan, Jason Pettit and John Stamhuis of Prince Rupert. Prince Rupert’s 34 swimmers in this meet for seven to 10-year- olds, ran up the top meet total of 405 points, The Blueback entry of 19 competitors took second with 348 points. Kitimat Marlins had 26 swim- mers and third place with 236 points, Masset entered - four swimmers, but they failed to gain any points. Local swimmers place among best in Canada Terrace Blueback swim coach Dick Coxford wasn’t too sur- prised when 10-year-old Cory Holland set 10 Terrace swim- -. ming pool records during the T.O.P. meet (Tiny Olympic Pro- spects) on April 30 weekend. The muscular youngster and coach Coxford’s daughter Jocelyn came through with superb performances against more than 1,000 of Canada’s 4 best youngsters at the annual Keyano meet in Edmonton the week previous. This international meet is one of the largest age group meets in the country, featuring American and English competitors, and some from Third World coun- tries. Both Cory and Jocelyn reach- ed the eight-swimmer finals in all of their Edmonton events. Cory won seven out of a possible nine medals.. The T.O.P. meet here was part of a program from Swim- Canada and the best youngsters names are published in Swim- Canada’s magazine, showing their positions across the coun- iry. Coxford said Cory placed in the top four for his 15-hundred freestyle swim, and placed in the top five in Canada for his 400 in- dividual medley. Jocelyn was also in the top four in Canada for her 15-hundred freestyle, and the 10-year-old equalled Cory. in her 400 IM. Tina Holland, an eight-year- old, was a top 10 finisher in the 400 freestyle, and Jennifer Henderson, aged nine, was a top 10 placer in the 200 I.M. and the 800 freestyle. Seven-year-old Garth Cox- ford placed number one in the nation for his age group’ s 200 freestyle.
