Re: 1979 Capital Projects

In view of the fact that we have reviewed most of our 1979 Budget
items and the Budget will not likely be finally passed until the Regional
District, Assessment Authority and other levies are known, would Council
consider giving approval to start on some of the projects that are in the
Budget.

Specifically, the Engineering Department would like authority to
proceed with the Kingsway reconstruction. This initially will involve some
drainage work and materials must be ordered. In addition, there are a
number of purchases out of the Equipment Reserve and we would like to
proceed with obtaining quotes. These are:

1. Tractor and flail mower

2. Garbage packer

3. Front-end loader

4. Flat-deck

5. Step-van for Fire Department

Would Council please authorize us to proceed with the preliminary work on
these items.
