L’ecole Victor G. Brodeur celebrates its new home More than sixty invited guests, parents, teachers and friends gathered officially to open the Admiral Victor G. Brodeur Dependents’ School on Monday afternoon, 22 October, at the _ former Harbour View School on Head Street. 2 Upon conclusion of O Canada and the benediction en fran- _ cais and taking advantage of his linguistic profile (perfect — fives), Capt(N) L.A. Dzioba, Base Commander Esquimalt, in- troduced the guest of honour Rear Admiral R.D. Yanow, Commander Maritime Forces Pacific. : Admiral Yanow expressed his admiration and support for the fine work, enthusiasm and dedication of the Victor G. Brodeur staff over their eleven year history. Speaking in fluent French and English, the Admiral thanked the Chairman, Mr. John Smith, and the Supervisor of Operations, Mr. Allan Scott, of the Greater Victoria School Board for their tole in providing and renovating the Harbour View School premises. Madame Andree Johansson, Directrice L’ecole Victor G. Brodeur, described the role and special relationships of Victor of the school. Amongst the invited guests were past Base Com- manders (retired), Capt(N) P.R. Hinton and Capt(N) C.H. Shaw. : In concluding the official Opening ceremonies, the school choir sang two songs much to the delight of the guests, “L’ecole Brodeur: la rouge maison” and “Gaudeamus Ig- itur’’. A brief tour and then meet-and-greet over coffee and Sweets rounded off this most happy occasion.
