Boys softball team played in the rain Despite steady rain on opening day, Terrace minor baseball still managed to get in its an- nual boys’ tournament for three divisions on the May 24 weekend at Elks Park. In the pre-teen Squirts division, three teams played a double round robin series. Copperside Aces emerged as winners by posting wins in all four of their games. Copperside beat T.W.U. 17-11 and 10-7, and took Kitwanga 20-4 and 20-6. T.W.U. placed second with two wins over Kitwanga, 16-7 and 18-9, The Kitwanga lads failed to taste victory. On the Peewee side, Northwest Sportsmen and Hazelton were to play four games against each other, Hazelton posted 10-6 and 11-7 vic- tories in the Saturday matchups, then the organizers decided to call off the Sunday contests, citing weather more con- ducive to mud wrestling. Five teams performed in the Bantam division in which they played a round robin with the top two teams advancing to a championship game. Hazelton won the title by downing Terrace Kinsmen 14-4. In the round robin, Hazelton finished unbeaten with an 18-3 win over R, King. and Sons, 20-10 over Kinsmen, 5-4 over Kit- wanga, and 13-3 over Skeena Hotel. In other games, R. King downed Skeena Hotel 13-6, Kinsmen shaded Kitwanga 13-12, Skeena Hotel whipped Kitwanga 11-1, Kit- wanga took R. King 13-3, Kinsmen outscored Skeena Hotel 10-3, and Kinsmen played to a 15-15 tie with R. King. Winner TERRACE — Winner of the ‘‘Fridge Full of Beer’’ was Shelly McNaughton of Terrace.
