THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: K. Janna Taylor ; ’ May 22, 1986 Parks and Recreation Director : FROM: F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Poco Trail and Kingsway Bridge ~ Public Works Committee - May 20,1986 Your memo of April 28, 1986 regarding clearance under the Kingsway Bridge was:.iscussed by the Public Works Committee. The Committee investigated.the possibility ‘of providing more clearance by diverting the path, down the bank towards the river. It is not possible to lower the Poco Trai! Itself under the bridge because of ‘the 24 inch water main which Is buried beneath the Poco. Trail. To move the trail down the bank would require the Installation of a retaining wall next to the river and a handrail! because of the sharp drop-off. The trail would subsequently be flooded a portion of the year during high water... Construction would also require fisherles approval since it would be within the wooded banks of. the river. The Committee felt that the amount of work Involved, much of which would have to be done by hand due to restricted clearance under the bridge, is not Justified In view of the minor Inconventence to users of the Poco Trall.
