I was asked to make a review of staff office requirements for the Recreation Department in che light of recent requests for use of the eld library for public Purposes. I had suggested that among the alter- natives for office space, which are the Rec Centre and the old library, that a third possibility existed - that of utilizing sone spare space dn the City Hall to house the Recreation staff, City Yall Space time we have one vacant office on the nain Flcor th one large area that used to house our Billing This office is right next y 150 square feet. There is ffice that could acconsodate two or possibly three typists of clerical workers with a bit of juggling with the present Treasury Depariment staff. It would be possible to gather about 700 square feet cf office space but thi; would Tequire relocating the By-law Officer and his assistant and also Joan Fraser. Mrs. Fraser could be moved to the Spare office en the vest side of the building, however, Criggie. A slight crowing loor where the Planner and the Building Departnent and The nain floor cannot be altered to provide nforcenent and therefore accomodation of t seem possible. Any such nove would lution as there is no question that in S growing and any nore bodies are required, pacity and further moves rould be required. I therefore feel that even though {t might be better from an efficiency point of view to have Recreation Staff In the City Hall, ic doesn’t look like a practical solution with the Space that is available at the present tine. Old Jaibrary Buildin There is about 1550 square feet of floor srea in this building not including the washrcous, furnace Toon, etc. This is smaller than the existing Recreation Offices at the Ree Centre, however, it has ample space to house the Recreation Department Staff with soce alterations. In the past, I hive suggested using this as a City Hall Annex to house the Recreation Staff as it has several advantages. It brings the Recreation
