PORT COQUITLAM

JULY, 1979

The Animal Control Facility functioned extremely well during the month of
July. The results achieved have been largely dictated to by the period of
hot weatner during the month of July. During hot weather animals are very
reluctant to leave their main source of water, therefore, they remain very
close to their home,

The number of animals impounded, 21, is below that for the same month in 1978
with.10 being claimed. The ratio of animals claimed is progressively increas-
. ing in the City. of Port Coquitlam.

For the year to date, 98 tickets have been issued as opposed to 67 during the
Same perlod in 1978. The reason behind this is the use of additional patrols
during the weekends.

The number of animals being: destroyed as surplus to humane requirements is still
decreasing.
