THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C O J Ni ¢ [ MEMORANDUM JUN 9 - 1986 TO: B. Kirk June 5, 1986 Civy Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Two hour parking restrictions on Kingsway Avenue - Public Works Committee - June 3, 1986 Recommendation: That the following two hour parking zones be estab! ished on Kingsway Avenue between the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 peme, Monday to Saturday Inclusive: 1. On the south side of Kingsway between Bedford Street and Burleigh Street. 2. On the north side of Kingsway for the frontage of 2549 Kingsway Avenue which is B & J Auto Parts. Background and Comments: Requests have been received from Sand Mountain as well as B & J Auto Parts for two hour parking on the street. The reason given tn both cases is to control the parking spaces for the benefit of the customers rather than to allow long term parking on this street. Shorter term parking would be acceptable but would be difficult for our Bylaw Department to patrol. In both of these locations parking is permitted on the street and there Is no reason to completely eliminate parking. The Committee has no objections to controlling the parking to a two hour limit {¢ this ts helpful to business. Two qualifters that need to be considered, however, are that with each extension of a two hour zone the Bylaw Department can spend less time on enforcement of the other zones and secondly, by eliminating long term parking on this portion of this street we may be driving these parked vehicles to another porticn of the street.
