SUBJECT: TENDER FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES REEVE STREET/HAWTHORNE
AVENUE
(Public Works Committee Meeting of September 7, 1993)

RECOMMENDATION:

l. That Council award the tender for engineering services to UMA Engineering based
on the tendered cost of $63,855.00.

2. That $63,855.00 be allocated from the Roads DCC Fund for this purpose.
BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:

This tender includes the provision of engineering services for the survey design and supervision
of the reconstruction of Reeve St. from Wilson to Pitt River Rd. and Hawthome Ave. from
Reeve St. to Shaughnessy St. as shown in the attached terms of reference.

Seven tenders were received and the lowest bid was from UMA Engineering Ltd. at a cost of
$63,855.00. UMA Engineering Ltd. has worked on numerous projects for the City of Port
Coquitlam in the past including the extension to Confederation Drive. The services provided by
UMA on these projects have been satisfactory.

It is recommended that the engineering services contract for the Reeve St./Hawthome Ave. road
project be awarded to UMA Engineering Ltd. at the tendered cost of $63,855.00.
