John Wang, a local Boy Scout Troop Leader, approached the City regarding permission to pick-up Newspaper placed at the curb-side by local residents during the month of January, 86. He was advised by T. Chong that although neither the City nor International Paper Industries Ltd. would obj ect to his Boy Scouts going door-to-door to collect newspapers for their drive. However, they wiii not be allowed to pick-up the newspaper e f t at the curb ide by res dents for POCOMO Enterpr ses s nce t wou d contravene the cond it ons of the —..; I i i i i i I Newspaper Recycl ing Agreement. Mr. Wong was advised to contact Mr. Choquette of POCOMO Enterprises which picks up the newspaper to see f a mutua y satisfactory arrangement can be made. A derma n Gates po nt'ed out that dur ng the Boy Scout Newspaper Drive, they can select a central location for the interim storage of newspaper such that they will be able to reduce the number of trips to the newspaper brokers at Terra Nova. T. Chong added that if this interim storage alternative is adopted, provisions mus+ be made to ensure that clean up of the area occurs at the end of the newspaper drive.
