The Clerk, Note: tin to be City of Port Coquitian, dele Port Coquitlam, BC In_ of Teudauce - Dear Sir: City Conrn Re 1974 Assessment ~- Elks Club of Port Coquitlam On behalf of the Elks Club of Port Coquitlam we wish to provide information in the hope that the Council may favor us in reducing assessment figures so that our 1974 taxes will remain approximately the same as last year. 1974 Assessment figures were increased over 1973 as follows: lend- $5,8587° to & 137850 Blégs 8 640 to 12 8A0. Taxes paid in 19738 - $1,091 plus sewer and water. Estimated 1974 taxes will be approx. #2,000 or more. Our Elks organization operates as a non-profit group arid in adcition to being a fraternal lodge we are also a service organization, donating monies to the less fortunate and lending aid by ways of monies and services to community efforts. Attached is a list of our donations made during the past year and also a list of the services performed by our group for the betterment of this comaunity. Our funds raised for this work comes mostly from our Bingo. All members working on this weekly project do so without pay. No overhead charge is made for our services and all monies raised are ear-marked for charities. Our membership stands at 185 at present and our lodge #49 has been in existance in Port Coquitian for 52 years. We have maintained our over 50 year old building in a good state of repair at considerable cost to us and it conforms fuvorably in appearance with adjacent buildings. over
