Dear Sir: Re: Portable units at: Hazel Trembath Elementary James Park Elementary Westwood Elementary .-kilmer_ Elementary - A copy of the report sent to us by Mr. A.H. Whistler, Supervisor of Operaticns and Maintenance Services, School District #43, is enclosed. It is our understanding that students housed in portable class— rooms at the above schools are required to use washroom facilities in the main school building even though washrooms are provided in the portable unitse. While the walking distance from the portable classroom to the main school building does not constitute a health hazard, it could be considered an inconvenience to the students particularly during inclement weather. In keeping with the B.C. School Building Manual that all permanent buildings must be connected to the sanitary sewer system, it is advised that these portable washrroms be comnected if indeed they are to be used on a long term basis. However, if the cost of connecting to the sanitary sewers is prchibitive and if these classrcoms are to be used for a short duration only, then the present arrangement can be continued. Information concerning the cost of connecting to the sewer should be made available to City Council. F(R Je Blatherwick, M.Do, DePeHe Director. JB:MRegs Encle CeCe Te Moore
