Dear Mr. Vander Zalm:

At its Regular Meeting held on April 26th, 1982, the
Municipal Council of the District of Surrey adopted the
following resolution:

"That the Municipality petition the Provincial
Government to modify the budget to retain the
Revenue Sharing Act Unconditional Grants at
1981 levels."

The change in the method of distributing the Revenue
Sharing .Act Grants has resulted in a reduction in the net
Provincial contribution to the District of Surrey of 2.45
million dollars. Our Council is of the opinion that your
reduction in Unconditional Grants has placed an
unwarranted hardship on all municipalities. In this
regard, we ask that you reconsider your decision to reduce
1982 Unconditional Grants.
