THE CORCORATION OF THE “JAN 28 1931 CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM Bryan Kirk DATE: January 23, 1991 City Administrator Kip Gaudry, P. Eng., Deputy City Engineer COLONY FARMS (ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION COMMITTEE MEETING JANUARY 22, 1991) RECOMMENDATIONS s That Colony Farm be preserved as open green space in perpetuity. That Mr. Robert E. Collis, Executive Director of the British Columbia Racing Commission be advised of Council's resolution on this matter. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: The Environmental Protection Committee considered the matter of Colony Farm at its meetings of January 9, 1991 and January 2, 1991. Mr. Paul Dutton, on behalf of, POCO CITIZENS FOR COLONY FARMS, presented considerable details on the history of Colony Farm and the provincial governments various attempts to alther develop or dispose of the land. The information is extremely thorough and informative and is attached to this report. From the Committee's research it would appear that environmentalists and interested groups consider this area to be environmentally sensitive and ideal to preserve in a green state. Committee supports this belief and asks Councils support in approving the resolution designating the area as green space in perpetuity. C.F. (Kip) Gaudry, P. Eng.
