Kirk Date: January 5, 1994 City Administrator File: 3260 Coast Meridian Road Carlos Felip Director of Planning Portable Sign located at 3260 Coast Meridian Road Planning and Development Committee — January 4, 1994 RECOMMENDATION: That the owners of The Bread Express be advised to comply with the regulations of the Port Coquitlam Sign Bylaw. BACKGROUND: The attached letter from the general manager at the Bread Express, located at 3260 Coast Meridian Road, has been referred to the Planning Committee for review and comment. The letter refers to a portable sign that the owners of the Bread Express would like to continue using for business advertising. DISCUSSION: Portable signs are prohibited in the City of Port Coquitlam under Section 3.1 of the "Sign Bylaw, 1992, #2638". The City enforces the regulations of this Bylaw whenever complaints about contravening signs are received. There appears to be a dispute between the present and former owners of the Bread Express over the lease of an existing free-standing sign on the property. This free-standing sign was previously approved by the City through a Development Variance Permit. As there are already a free-standing sign on the property and a fascia sign on the building that have been approved by the City for use, it is recommended that the present owners of the bakery be advised that the City will not support the continued use of a portable sign and that all signage on the property should conform to the City's Sign Bylaw. i “ Carlos Fetter We arch.
