FROM: Larry J. Wheeler, Recreation Manager SUBJECT: Proposed 1990 Rental Fee - Senior "B" lacrosse Senior "B" Lacrosse team has been formed inn Port or C oqu i t 1 am creating establishment of a new rental rate for Rec Centre facilities. After our current rate structurePoCo and the rate schedules from otherreviewing communities with Senior "B " L actosse teams, rate of 416.50 per hour. a has been proposed. A aace nee d for the INTRODUCTION: PURPOSE/PROBLEM: This report has b an prepared to provide the Parks 6 Recreation Committee with information and recommendation regarding the establishmen of a rental feea for Senior "B" Lacrosse.. HISTORY/BACKOROUND: There has not been a Senior "B" Lacrosse team in Port Coquitlam in recent Sears. Therefore, existing fee schedule does not include an appropriatetherental rate. However, a Senior "B " Lacrosse team has been organized for 1990 and t'.:erefore the establishment of a rental required. fee is ANALYSIS: have attached a cceparlson of 1989 zental rates for Senior Lacrosse teams in other communities. s ou ld b e noted that a we have ave r the new rate using thet assumption adults have "aproposed greater ability to pay" than most other that population. This is consistent with our ex eristic s ng fee ee structure. "B" I' BENEFITS: 1'he proposed rental rate be perceived as being fair and not in anyway restrict theshould should development of a Senior "B " teem in Port Coquitlam, The proposed fee is consistent with thea eristic ex st ng fees and charges stzucture. RECONNENMTION: It is recommended that a rental rate of 416.50 per hour be establi -hcd for tne Senior "B" Lacrosse team's rental of the PoCo Rec Centre. Larry J. However, we must keep The member in perspective that lacrosse participants constitute less than 2X ot'he populatioa of Port Coquitlam. Tae Parks and Recreatioa Department's mandate is to ensure zecreation opportunities available to all -itizens. Special events and other recreation are programs (i.e. tennis lessons) are one way of meeting thes'" "other" needs. Therefore, allowing the sole use of a multi-use facility for one activity may be ia coaflict wi.th the community's "best interests". Parks and Recreation Departm nt supports in many different eren ways efforts made by the members of the Port Coquitlam Lacrosse Council to provide our citizens with ac ezcellent lacrosse program. We keep these needs in miad always when and scheduling the applicable facilities. We regularly programming mod.ify, relocate or even cancel our plans irt an effort to accommodate user group needs. However, thi.s cooperation is sometimes limited by our objective o not compromise the quality of our zeczeatioa progzatus.
