From the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, August 8th, 1975, being the July, 1975 Municipal Policing Report. Alderman Traboulay referred to the last paragraph of the Report concerning the Curfew By-law, and stated he was looking forward to a report thereon from Inspector Young. Aiderman Traboulay then commented on the fact that no juveniles were charged with drug-related offences, and at his request, Mayor Campbell agreed to obtain information as to the number apprehended in that regard. REPORTS: From Mayor J.M. Campbell, July 30th, 1975, reporting on the July 30th, 1975 Greater Vancouver Regional District meeting. ~Alderman Laking referred to the proposal to place about 650 modular units on the Oxbow Ranch property located North of Lincoln Avenue on the East. side of the Coquitlam River in the District of Coquitlam, and he pointed out that this is in the flood area; however, Mayor Campbell stated he had been advised that the chance of flooding is apparently greater downstream. Alderman Traboulay stated he felt the proposal should be looked at on an intermunicipal basis with respect to schools, services, ecology, etc. Alderman Laking commented that while he did not think anyone is against the project, the same opportunity should be available for construction of housing in some flood plain areas of the City. -Alderman Mabbett inquired as to the latest position of the G.V.R.D. on garbage disposal, and Mayor Campbell advised that the District could act immediately as it has the power to expropriate where necessary. Mayor Campbell then referred to his viewing of open-pit burning operations in various municipalities, and advised that in his opinion the one in the City of Bellingham was the cleanest he had seen. From the Land Use Committee, July 25th, 1975, referring to a proposed Min. Frontage Exempt. Subdiv.at 2625 Coast M. Rd. 11 lot subdivision of Lot 2, Plan 16634 located at 2625 Coast Meridian Road, none of which meet the frontage requirements of the City's Subdivision of Land By-law although in excess of the minimum area requirements of 5,400 square feet, and recommending that frontage exemptions be granted for the proposed lots as permitted in Section 712(2) of the Municipal Act.
