Revision of Assessment Roll Procedure - continued

the Act is under review in Victoria and I can only recommend that we contact

Victoria with a view to obtaining some explanation.

With regard to our own situation we could proceed with the preliminary work on

the two roll system. With the computer that we are presently using the preliminary
work could be done and a decision to proceed with two rolis could be delayed unril
September. A by-law to make the change would have to be passed by Council before
the end of November. ‘The preliminary work which involves setting up actual values
is useful for other assessment purposes and the work would not be lost should we

not transfer to two rolls.

I have attached a draft of a letter which could be sent to the Department outlining
the problems and asking for their views. If Council wish I can send this letter.

In the meantime we could proceed with the preliminary work and defer a definite

decision on this question until the Fall.
