With regard to public information on the Proposed service Mr. Parker advised that the Departrent would be settittg up an office in Port Coquitlam sometime during the mext three months in.order to make information available to the residents and get ideas on transportation needs. Regarding the schedule for operation it was the Province's intention to commence service in October providing agreement is reached with the Regional District. Should there be a delay in negotiations or if the Province is unable to obtain drivers and have the equipment ready to roll in October the next deadline would be February 1974, Mr. Parker was questioned on the use of existing rail line facilities as a trans~ portation route and he advised that they are presently discussing this at the ministerial levei between the Provincial and Federal Governzeuts. Mr. Parker gave the members of the committee a copy of the Minister's report and policy staterent on public transportaticn for British Columbia. The Comittee then met with Mr. P. Brady, Co-ordinator, Federal/Provincial Fleod Control Program, to discuss the dyking and drainage program for the City. Alderman Laking reviewed the situation and asked Mr. Brady what progress had been made since our last meeting. Mr. Brady advised that the program administration had now been changed with the Departrent of Water Resources doing the preliminary Studies on the various programs rather than having consultants do this work. The Port Coguitlam project is in its first stage with the Departrent working on preliminary cost estimates and collecting data. It is expected that this study will take nine to twelve months for completicn and then the information on the project will be submitted to the cunicipality for discussion and acceptance.
