Dear Mayor and.Council:

Re: Hospital Funding Resolution

The Council of the Corporation of the City of White Rock, at its April
9th, 1990 regular Council meeting unanimously endorsed the following
resolution:

"WHEREAS the capital cost of funding hospital construction and
equipment is reaching crisis Proportions throughout the
provinces and

"WHEREAS the jower mainland municipalities are facing heavy
demands for growth and the construction of new housing to
accommodate an influx of people all of whom exert in turn, a
demand on the hospital infrastructure:

"IT IS THEREFORE RECOMMENDED that the provincial government
adopt legislation that would enable municipalities to collect
unit fees from developers as development cost charges, or
other such levy, Specifically for the purpose of contributing
to hospital infrastructure and equipment costs; and

RECOMMENDED FURTHER, that a copy of Council's recommendation
be sent to other members of the Greater Vancouver Regional
District for their support and endorsement.".
