Free standing signs are nat permitted in any single family residential property. There is, therefore, a need to rezone the property prior to the placement of a sign on the property. Since the City ia the owner of the property and that your department is administering the property, it would be appropriate that you obtain authorization from the Administration to submit a formal application, through the Planning Department to rezone the property to Pl, Public Inatitutional 5 this use will permit the legal operation of the Women's Center and, subject to the provisions of Sign Bylaw, the erection of a free~standing sign. While we are on the subject of signs, I would stress the importance to ensure that all egipnus erected in the City by the Muateipality, fully comply with the Sign Bylaw. Our job of administering land usé and other bylaws becomes very difficult when other departments of the Muniedpality act, on & consistent basia, with total disregard of these Bylaws. Gertainly you are aware that there is sufficient legal precedence of dismissal of charges, for breach of regulations, when the responsible authorities is proven to-be inconsistent with the enforcement of the regulations. L trust we will have the cooperation of your department and situations like the Women's Center and the clustering of illegal signs at the corner of Shaughnessy Street and Pitt River Road will be promptly resolved. ve eeete vanes 1 aueemmrwn ts TN elas ‘6 ae a sere . ut HENS ce Mr. BR.
