a s ie | , =, - , eo Bee 7 THE WESTERN CANADIAN LUMBER WORKER STRIKERS WIN UNION’S SUPPORT At-the last Regional Executive Board the decision “was made fo give all-out support to the 3,000 members of Regional Council No. 5, in the Southern United States who have been on strike against the giant Weyerhaeuser Company since last February 10, for better wages and working conditions. To give the members in Regional Council No. 1, a first hand impression of the conditions in the South, the Regional Executive Board invited two of the strikers to visit and tell their story. The two who accepted the invitation were George Mizell and Wallace. ‘‘Doc’’ Ford, both of whom are rank-and-file members. For three weeks they visited operations of Local 1-357, New Westminster, Local 1- 367, Haney, Local 1-417, Kamloops, Local 1-423, Kelowna and addressed the crews. They also attended a number of Annual Delegates Meetings where they also spoke. Shown on these two pages are pictures of the crews of the Weyerhaeuser operations in Merritt, Kamloops and Lumby, who were addressed by George Mizell.
