—— ==. é ALL Sty; January 7th, 1986 TO: ALL MUNICIPALITIES, REGIONAL DISTRICTS and CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE On January 3rd, 1986, the Society submitted a letter to Municipal Council asking that it support, (a) our project to build the top-sail schooner, the PRITISH COLUMBIAN; (b) our request to have the ship become the official flagship and ambassadorial vessel for the Province; (c) our request to seek province-wide endorsement of this ex- citing venture. I am pleased to report that Council unanimcusiy suppoztce these sequests. Construction of the ship began January 8th, 1986 with the cutting of 25,000 board feet of timber, donated by Doman Industries Limited. The Society would sincerely appreciate the support of your Council or Board of the following resolution: WHEREAS some 35,000 hours work will be provided by construction of the BRITISH COLUMBIAN; and WHEREAS this project will serve as an exciting tourism exhibit; and WHEREAS this project will make available a sail-training.program for more than i000 youths annually; and WHEREAS this ship will place British Columbia in the international arena of sail-training; and WHEREAS this ship will become the ambassadorial tall ship for British Columbia, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Council/Board recommend to the Province of British Columbia that it adopt the BRITISH COLUMBIAN as its official flagship and ambassadorial tail ship.
