Dear Sirs This has reference to your letters dated December 28, 1972 and February 28, 1973, concerning the blocking of Lougheed railway level] crossing at mileage 117.8 of CP Rail's Cascade Subdivision. The blocking of this crossing was recently investi-~ gated by a Committee field officer. The report from the investigating Officer and other documents on file indicate that the requirements of the Railway Act pertaining to move~ It is apparent to the Committee that the problem resides not so much in the violations of rule requirements as in the frequency and length of trains using the Lougheed Avenue crossing. , The construction of a grade separation which would solve the problen is presently under active review by the Provincial Highway Department and plans to this effect are in the process of being approved. Insofar as Gontrolling the lenath of trains over this crossing is Concerned, CP Rail have expressed the view that they would not be able to Satisfactorily meet the require- into consideration, the Crossings would be occupied longer per 24 hour period.
