C. V3C 2A8 MAR 17 1980 Dear Mr. Mayor: During the past year, the Provincial Emergency Program has been conducting the Orientation Course fox Disaster Planning. The object of this course is to provide a Comprehensive instruction in basic disaster mitigation planning for all Area Co-ordinators within the Province. Mr/Mrs. Robert Lajoie, the Co-ordinator who represents your area, has attended the course. It is hoped that you will meet with him/her and discuss the course content. Concurrently, each Co-ordinator has been furnished with several documents including a 'Model Emergency Plan' which is intended to function as an aid in formulating or up- dating Municipal Emergency Plans. You may wish to look at these papers. Further to the above, a similar course will be offered to Mayors and Aldermen to provide an opportunity for Elected Officials to participate in a course of instruction in the field of Municipal Disaster Planning. Would you please poll your Aldermen and kindly advise this office if they would be willing to attend a two or three day Emergency Planning Course in Victoria. Travel, meals and accomodation expenses will be covered by the Provincial Emergency Program. Your response will make it easier for us in our endeavour to assist you.
