Traboulay and Council City of Port Coquitlam City Hall 2272 McAllister Avenue Port Coquitlam, B.C. if V3C 238 Dear Mayor Traboulay and Members of Council: Res Proposed Regional Funding of Cultural Organizations Enclosed for your consideration is a report from the Greater Vancouver Regional District’s Subcommittee on Regional Funding of Cultural Activities, whose recommendations, listed below, were endorsed by the GVRD Board at its October 26, 1988 meeting. 4(c) Report of the Subcommittee on Cultural Funding (1) That the Board endorse the following recommendations contained in the report of the Subcommittee on Cultural Funding: (i) That the regional significance of some cultural organi-~ zations be recognized and that the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Opera Association be so named at this time. (ii) That the procedure for funding cultural activities through the region as outlined in the October 19, 1988 report of the Subcommittee on Cultural Funding be endorsed. That the mandate of the Subcommittee on Cultural Funding be extended and that it be authorized to meet twice per year, once to set the regional rate for cultural contri- butions and once to review grant applications . and applications for inclusion on the list of organizations eligible for consideration for funding assistance. —, j-i- fete ft- ~~ (iv) That the 1989 regional rate for cultural grants be in the range of 25 cents per person based on 1986 census figures ee and that the issue be referred back ta the Subcommittee Bm for more detailed enunciation. : | fete ol (2) That the Subcommittee’s report and recommendations be circulated to member municipal councils.
