The following are the traffic violation statistics for the month of June 1974. CRIMINAL CODE (Traffic) b) : PARKING VIOLATIONS 16 GENERAL COMMENTS ON LOCAL CRIMINAL AND DRUG ACTIVITIES During the month of June, 1974, a total of twenty-five persons were charged with offences under the Narcotic Control and Food & Drug Acts. There. were no charges involving Heroin, supporting last month‘s information that Heroin was not readily available in the Coquitlam or Port Coquitlam areas. One drug case of interest was the shipment of thirteen dresses from India to two different addresses in the Coquitlam area. These dresses, in three separate parcels, were found to each contain approxi- mately fifty buttons, with each button containing approximately one gram of Hashish. The drugs were detected when the parcels were checked by Customs officials. One resident of the Coquitlam area has subsequently been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in Hashish. Major crine during the month of June: (a) Armed robbery of the Pay N Save Gas Station, 810 Brunette Street, Coquitlam, on the 25th JUNE. The robbery was committed by a lone gunman, with a second person waiting in a car outside. No arrests have been made to date. There was one offence of an indecent, assault on a young teenage girl, which occurred near the Cemo Lake School. An adult male is presently before the courts for this offence. An adult male, presently confined in the Lower Mainland Regional Correctional Centre, has admitted being responsible for numerous breaking and enterings of both homes and businesses in the Coquitl+m and Port Coquitlam area. Though it is our opinion that this person is exaggerating, he has indicated his responsibility to nearly 600 offences during 1972 ond 1973. This person has also admitted being responsible for numerous similar offences in other parts of the Lower Mainland area. None of the proceeds from the offences we have been able to confirm were recovered as same were used to support this person's drug habit. This matter is still being investigated.
