The Green Zone program is a key component in the GVRD's 'Creating Our Future’ initiative. The types of sites covered by the program include recreational and scenic lands, major parks, watersheds, floodplains, wetlands, wildlife habitat and renewable resource lands including agriculture and forestry lands. Many are already publicly controlied. Success of the program depends largely on the active involvement of individual municipalities in the region. They would identify the lands to be protected and, where appropriate, take the steps needed to secure them. The GVAD will co- ordinate the program regionally. Copies of reports and a video dealing with the Green Zone concept, agricultural issues in the region, regional park and outdoor recreation issues and related topics are available at public libraries throughout the region or from the GVRD's Development Services Department at 432-6375. 30 re A ee ee tes
