ALDERMEN'S REMARKS: “Alderman Ranger addressed the meeting and stated he bas been Chairman, of the Public Works Committee for 1979 and thanked his Co-Chairman Alderman Keryluk, City Engineer F.E. Peters, P. Eng., and Works & Utilities Superintendent G.W. Ulmer for their support in making it a successful year. “Alderman Ranger advised several studies had been completed regarding providing an adequate water supply to the Mary Hill area. Alderman Ranger stated there has been an increase in garbage pick-up and that the crews are now picking up most types of garbage. Alderman Ranger advised his concern for the 1980's is the absence of a proper transit system and that a light rapid transit system be established and suggested that the public get involved in pressing for a new transit system. Alderman Ranger also advised he was Co-Chairman of the Leisure Activities Committee and expressed appreciation to Chairman Alderman Mabbett, Recreation Directer K.J. Taylor, Parks Superintendent B. Hoogendoorn and community groups in the area for their support in making it a successful year. Alderman Ranger also expressed appreciation to former Mayor J.M. Campbell for his terms in office and for providing leadership, integrity and honesty and inspiring his Council to reach the same plateau, and expressed his appreciation to the Staff for carrying out Council's policies. He stated he is looking forward to working with the new Council for 1980. Alderman Ranger then wished everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Alderman Traboulay addressed the meeting and stated he was Chairman of the Community Developments Committee and was Co-Chairman of the Land Use Committee. He advised that the most important project this year was the proposed Techram Development at the Lougheed Highway and Westwood Street. Alderman Traboulay further advised the project will be the first office tower in Port Coquitlam.
