CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM

1980

The following is a review of the activities of the Animal Contro] Facility
in the City of Port Coquitlam during the year 1986,

Firstly, complaints remained very much the same in 1980 as in 1979, ie;
up slightly from 458 to 485, however, the number of animals impounded,
505 is up from 493 in 1979.

The total number of animals claimed, 263 from 218 produced additional
revenue from $4,956.00 to $5,322.00. In addition, the claim rate, ie;
the ratio of dogs claimed to those impounded, increased in 1980 From 4ky
to 52%.

Despite the misgivings of selling licenses, it should be duly noted that
the license revenue in 1980 was increased to $7,967.50, up fron $2,590.50
in 1979,

During the year, the tickets issued, 149, is up from 125 from the previous
year,

During the year of 1981, the Following priorities will be enforced:

(a) continuation of the impounding of animals

‘(b} emphasis on tickets

{c) a continued program of license selling during the year, subject to
the approval of Counci]

(d) an increase in the ratio of dogs claimed to those impounded
