WHEREAS the first Arbor Day was celebrated more than 100 years ago;
WHEREAS Arbor Day is now observed throughout North America and the world;

WHEREAS Trees can reduce the erosion of our precious topsoil by wind and water, cut
heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, clean the air, produce oxygen and provide
habitat for wildlife;

WHEREAS Trees in our City beautify our community and improve the quality of our urban
life;

ane WHEREAS Trees, wherever they are planted, are a source of joy and spiritual
renewal,

NOW THEREFORE J, Leonard M. Traboulay, Mayor of the Corporation of The City of
Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the week of October 19 to 25 as:

"ARBOR WEEK"

in the City of Port Coquitlam.

2692" be reconsidered, finally passed and adopted. |
