formed by area of law, such as
criminal, family, real estate or
_ tax. Sections distribute minutes
- from meetings where issues of

law are discussed, senior and eX-
perienced members of. the bar
present papers on new legal
problems such as Charter cases,
and judges are invited to speak.
Now general practitioners of
law, which defines most small-
town lawyers, will have such an
information network, including
contacts with senior lawyers
practicing in the same area of
law, O'Byrne explained.
John Milne of Smithers said
some of the issues the new Sec-
tion will likely deal with in the
first year include a survey of

prevailing fees and salaries J

within the County and a review
of residential real estate closing
procedures. —

The Smithers lawyer said, ‘‘It

is a great step forward for .

general practitioners who are in
small Northwest communities.’

City backs
transit
survey

Terrace city council agrees in

principle with a proposed needs
survey for a public transporta-

tion system for seniors and
‘handicapped residents, but they |

have withheld full endorsement
of the study until more informa-
tion and confirmation of costs
are provided’ by Terrace’ and
District Community. Services.,
Council received a request

ministrator Lorna Copeland in

early July. Copeland suggested |
that the city and B.C. Transit .

of about $4,000 each to deter-
