The problem bas been getling the word out about this low cost winter sport alternative that’s fun for every- one. 30,000 regular participants in B.C., it seems. that in many communities there are people who dan’t know much about the spert. A. lot of us-started to. play the game because we had a friend who curled and encouraged us to try it. That is still the way the ma- jority of people learn about the sport: from friends, neighbours and relatives who curl. So now there is ‘a marketing campaign that uses this method of communication to help boost curling club participa- tion. Ii’s National Open House Week and it involves using ex- isting club members to bring friends to the club during the week March 14-20. That means ali of us who play on a regular basis at a curling club have to pitch in. Many curling clubs will be organizing fun events during the week and it’s up to us to show our ‘buddies’ what fun curling, both on and off the ice, canbe. - Why have a campaign in March?
