Re: Application for ice times for a proposed Junior Hockey Franchise _ Your Worship, Mayor Campbell and Council Members, YY In answer to a request by Port Coquitlam Recreation Director, Janet Taylor, the following is a proposal on behalf of a group to be known as Columbia West Sports Enterprises Ltd., to establish a Junior 'B' Hockey franchise in Port Coquitlam. The group I represent have all had experience in hockey management in Minor and Junior systems in British Columbia. Following is a brief resume of the group: Peter G. Rodgers - school teacher, George Pearkes Junior Secondary School, ‘ Port Coquitlam ~ 10 years Minor Hockey management - 3 years Junior Hockey management 1 year West Coast Junior Hockey League executive member John R. Florio teaching assistant, U.B.C. History Department 4 years Minor Hockey management 3 years Junior Hockey management lL year West Coast Junior Hockey League executive member Gordon Griffiths foreman, Cement Company 10 years Minor Hockey management James Wensveen businessman 2 years Minor Hockey management - 1 year West Coast Junior League executive assistant It is the desire of our group to utilize the experience and knowledge of the Port Coquitlam Minor Hockey Association and the City Recreation Department in the operation of the franchise. It would also be ovr policy to involve the entire community in this venture by encouraging active participation in the management of the club and fund raising campaigns. Our group intends to promote a 50-50 profit sharing program with co-operating organizations in the fund raising campaigns. We feel that this program will encourage all parties to build a strong viable franchise while offering financial benefits to all groups involved.
