Janna Taylor, Parks & Recreation Director SUBJECT: 1986 May Day ond ee ee nee mee ee meee ey ey ee et remy et eet re yt rt a te try Se Ge oh st een soup a ee cet ort ut ew sey esse en nd cont nen coy eee ne RECOMMENDATION: 1) That the 1986 May Day be held May 8th to May llth, 1936. That, the 1986 Parade route be held on the "north side" of Port Coquitlam. | : That the crowning. ceremonies take place in the arena. That the 1986 May Day be run under the same format as the 1985 May Day. a | BACKGROUND & COMMENTS : Included with this report is a major report from Helen Fitch, the 1985 May Day co-ordinator, | me | The recommendation before the council may not necessarily be a majority report, due to the fact that Alderman George Laking © was not present. The committee realizes: that there was a major concern this year in regard to the parade going downtown on the Mother's Day weekend. If we choose to go with any other week- end in May,.we will conflict with other major festivals. We have again chosen the Mother's Day weekend, but have moved the parade to the northside of Port Coquitlam. Details of the route would be worked out later. We did look at holding the crowning at McLean Park, but felt that the weather factor may be a problem. By leaving, a one hour gap between the finishing of the parade, and the beginning of the crowning ceremonies, would leave spectators time to travel to the arena. | Se | | . ‘ ‘ /2- : : a Nove: Copies. clistes bu el separately | | | te Loomer | ween bers, Copre ° _ See copy (allover | avarlable ow bequest, | Civy Creer eee erento A Ea
