5 arte A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, October 19th, 1992, at 7:30 p.m. Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Councillors M.D. Gates, MJ. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk, R.H. Talbot, M.A. Thompson, and M.R. Wright were in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Clerk S$. Rauh, City Treasurer/Deputy City Administrator J.G. Maitland, Deputy Engineer J.E Yip, Director of Planning C.R. Felip, Director of Building Permits and Inspections J. Shardlow, Fire Chief J. Baillie and Chief Fire Prevention Officer T. Clarke. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay introduced Bobby Buchan of Irvine Elementary who was chosen as the 1992 "Fire Chief for a Day" and presented him with a plaque and a firefighters Moved by Councillor Talbot: Seconded by Councillor Gates: That the minutes of the Public Hearing and Regular Council meeting held on October 5th, 1992 be taken as read and adopted. Carried. PROCLAMATION: WHEREAS the world continues to seek the road of peace and international co-operation through the United Nations in the emerging world order; , WHEREAS the central role of the United Nations in the international efforts for peace and security, to protect the environment, and to provide hope and comfort to the many people facing poverty, disease, and civil unrest throughout the world has grown significantly; WHEREAS Canadian support and leadership in the United Nations has been an essential component of this country’s foreign policy in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the world organization; AND WHEREAS all peoples of the world are encouraged to observe the 47th birthday of the United Nations on October 24th, 1992, as "UNITED NATIONS DAY". NOW THEREFORE I, Leonard M. Traboulay, Mayor of ihe Corporation of The City of Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the October 24th, 1992 as "UNITED NATIONS DAY" in the City of Port Coquitlam.
