The piece they had got hold of was flourescent yeliow, matching their two pieces of plastic toy. They had taken the offen one that hung directly in front of the dog’s eyes (causing the poor thing to believe it lived in an en- tirely haired world), and tied it up in a kind of pony __ ‘The three of them were absorbed in.the. digging, the dog probably watching for edible bugs. Suddenly, one of the boys got up and marched toward the gate of a house where he either lived or had an open invitation at all hours. He was followed by the dog and then by his friend. He got as far as the gate when his friend sat down -in the dirt and began working on a cularly promising pile of stones. The friend snid something to him. This was pay dirt forsure. Well...the at the gate weighed some things in his mind. She valculated the distance to the house, one hand resting on the gate latch.
