A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, October 5th, 1992, at 7:30 p.m. Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Councillors M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk, R.H. Talbot, M.A, Thompson, and MLR. Wright were in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Clerk S. Rauh, Deputy Engineer J.E Yip, Director of Planning C.R. Felip, and Fire Chief J. Baillie. That the minutes of the Regular Council meeting held on September 28th, 1992 be taken as read and adopted. Carried, TION: WHEREAS: The purposes and objectives of the Royal Canadian Legion, as contained in an Act to incorporate the Royal Canadian Legion include: (e) To perpetuate the memory and deeds of the fallen and of those who die in the future; To promote and care for memorials to their valour and sacrifice ... to keep an annual memorial day, to preserve the records and memories of their service and to see that such services shall not be forgotten by the nation; To educate public opinion regarding national duties to the dead; To foster loyalty among the public and education in the principles of patriotism, duty and unstinted public service; WHEREAS: Ever, person who has been initiated into membership in the Royal Canadian Legion, has swom to uphold and advance the aims and objectives of the Legion; AND WHEREAS: The National Poppy Committee has recommended that the observance of a "Remembrance Week" immediately prior to November 1ith would do a great deal to encourage greater interest on the part of the public, NOW THEREFORE I, Leonard M. Traboulay, Mayor of the Corporation of The City of Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the seven days commencing November 5th and ending November 11th as "REMEMBRANCE WEEK" in the City of Port Coquitlam.
