Proposal to the xe City of Port Coquitlam, the Public Works/Tra
inviting any queries or suggestions on this proposal from local businesses,

The following two problems exist at this crosswalk:

1) As the crosswalk is located at the end of a curve on Shaughnessy Street,
pedestrians on the crosswalk are not in the direct site line of the drivers of
north bound vehicles,

As there is existing parking on the east side of Shaughnessy directly north of
the crosswalk at Marpole north bound vehicles must merge from two lanes
into one lane on Shaughnessy between Wilson and Marpole. When drivers
are merging they cannot pay full attention to the pedestrians at this
crosswalk,

The new traffic lights at Wilson and Shaughnessy will have both pedestrian actuated pedestrian
signals and audible Signals for the visually impaired. Also the new Wilson and Shaughnessy
traffic signals are very close to the crosswalk at Marpole and Shaughnessy, It ig therefore
proposed to remove the pedestrian crosswalk after the Shaughnessy and Wilson traffic lights are
completed and operational,
