COUN MEMORANDUM JAN 21 198u Mayor and Council January 16, 1980, L.D. Pollock, City Administrator. Agricultural. Aerial Spray For the last few years we have had requests from the local blueberry farmers to permit the aerial spraying of crops. The spray treatment is required annually and usually takes place in mid March or carly April. Transport Canada are permitted to provide a waiver of the air regulations to permit low flying aircraft, however before the waiver is approved they require a letter from the City stating that Council has no objection to this activity. The spraying activity is generally confined to one morning and the five or so farms in the area that require spraying can be completed in a very Few minutes. + Last year the time of flying and the dates were restricted in order that it was not a blanket approval for the year and perhaps Council would consider passing a resolution along the following Lines. “That Transport Canada be notified that City of Port Coquitlam has no objection to the aerial spray of blueberry crops in the Agricultural crea during the period March 1 to May lst, providing that such activities are carried out after 8:00 a.m. on any day." aoe eel — - - - a gt GP ecm L. dD.
