SUBJECT: Victoria Drive Renaming.

RECOMMENDATION:

That as previously recommended by the Planning and Development Committee the
name "Apel Drive" be assigned to that part of Victoria Drive travelling in a
northeast, southwest direction between Coast Meridian Road and Victoria
Drive.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

The Planning and Development Committee earlier commented to Council that the

Apel family name is being recommended as they are a longstanding Port Coquitlam
family and reside in the Victoria Drive neighbourhood. The Committee also referred
to the fact that the family name Apel does not have the same pronounciation or
sound as other street names in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, or Port Moody.

We have contacted Mr. Frank Apel and he has advised us that he would consider
it to be an honour to have his family name applied to this section of streer.
