No one was present to speak regarding the proposed zoning amendment. Mrs. S. Osberg, 3156 Raleigh Street, sent a letter opposing the two foregoing proposals as she prefers less density in this area. Bylaw No. 2728 "COMMERCIAL INDOOR RECREATION USE:" Commercial indoor recreation use means a use operated by a non-profit or commercial agency providing for public indoor sports and recreation, including fitness centres, gymnasiums, gymnastics, racquet sports, mini-golf, and similar uses, but excluding restaurants, lounges, conunercial saunas and spas, and retail sale of equipment and accessories as a principal, complementary or accessory use. Section 1001(2)(b) of the Bylaw is amended by renumbering sub-sections (iv) and (v) as sub-sections (v) and (vi), respectively, and inserting the following as sub-section (iv): "(iv) commercial indoor recreation uses; provided that the building where the commercial indoor use is located, is protected by fire sprinklers". The proposed amendment will permit a "Commercial Indoor Recreation Use" in the M-1 (General Industrial) Zone. All land in the City zoned M-1 (General Industrial) is affected. No one was present to speak regarding the proposed text amendment. A Resident sent a letter opposing the foregoing proposal as he is concerned with the safety of children in an industrial area and an increase in taxation which might occur as a result of increasing fire protection.
