REPORT TO: Mayor and Aldermen FROM: Land Sales Committee The Land Sales Committee met at the City Hall on Tuesday April 9th, 1974, Present were: Chairman Alderman Keryluk, Alderman Laking and L.D. Pollock City Administrator. The following items were discussed: IE. Road Abondonment ~ South of 1930 Mary Hill Road. The Committee received a request from owners of property adjacent to a short road allowance which runs off Mary Hill Road between 1918 and 1930 Mary Hill Road (See plan attached). The applicant would like the City to obtain title and then offer the property for sale for some suitable development. et in nee This road allowance was a subject of some discussion in Council several years ago, however at that time one of the owners objected to the road abondonment as it was being used as access to the rear of his property. It would appear now that both the adjacent owners are in agreement with the cancellation. The Committee recommends that we carry out the necessary procedures to abondon the road and obtain title in the name of the City. The Committee does not make any recommendation on disposal of the property this time, but will consider this matter futher when title has been obtained. 2. Sale of City Property - 3676 Sefton Street. The Committee considered an application to have the City seil two City owned 33' lots located at 3676 Sefton Street (See map attached). The City has had requests for these parcels in the past and as they are in the vicinity of Hyde Creek and form part of the right-of-way protecting the Creek, the Committee can not recommend sale at this time. The Committee therefore recommends that the City owned property at 3676 Sefton Street not be offered for sate. 3. Road Closure ~ York Street. Attached is a copy of a plan showing a portion of Coquitlam Avenue, Suffolk and York Street. There is housing development taking place in this area and it has been suggested by our Engineering Department that the City might want to proceed with cancelling the short stub of York Street between Coquitlam Avenue and Suffolk. It would be possible to obtain title to this piece of road allowance which could be transformed into two building sites. The Engineering Department has conmented that the construction of this particular piece of York Street might be detrimental to the traffic flow in the area amd it would appear that we couid obtain consent from the adjoining property owners at this time. It may be necessary to construct a cul-de-sac turn around at the easterly end of Suffolk Street and there may be some property acquisition required to accomplish this turn around. It is anticipated that we may be able to get co-operation from the School Board when we complete our transaction with them on the sale of the remaining City owned land on Coquitlam Avenue to the School Board to permit expansion of the James Park School site. The Committee recommends that we proceed at this time to obtain the necessary oe f/2
