OCT - 7 1974 TO: Mayor and Council DATE: October 4, 1974 FROM: Alderman Ranger RE: Gravel Removal Permit Fees Pursuant to notice given at the last regular meeting of Council I would ask Council to give consideration to amending our Gravel By-law to increase the amount of the permit fee for the year 1975. This increase would be in line with Council's policy of updating various permit fees and charges on an annual basis to keep pace with rising costs. The present 15¢ per yard charge was set in 1973 and no adjustment was made in 1974. It would seem appropriate to amend the By-law at this time and have the increase effective as of January 1975, however, as all permits expire at the end of April in each year the increase would not take effect until March 1, 1975. With regard to the amount cf the increase I would suggest an increase of from 15¢ to 20¢ per yard. This would represent approximately 30% which would be 15% for 1974 and a further 15% applicable to the year 1975. The 20¢ per yard charge would be in line with our adjacent municipalities. I would therefore recommend to Council the following resolution: That Section 3 (subsection b} of the City of Port Coquitlam Soils Removal By-law No. 1236 be amended to provide that the permit fee of 15¢ per cubic yard of gravel removed be increased to 20¢ per cubic yard as of March 1, 1975.
