SUBJECT: Appointment of Consulting Engineers for Shaughnessy Underpass Repairs

That KPA Engineering Ltd. be appointed as the Consulting Engineers for the Shaughnessy
Underpass repairs at an estimated cost of $11,300 including GST and contingency.

2. That the funds be taken from 1992 Public Works Capital Budget.

In 1989 the City identified a problem with deterioration of the concrete on the underside of the
Shaughnessy Underpass. An inspection and assessment report was written by KPA Engineering
Ltd. and recommended that repairs totalling between $12,000 and $15,000 be completed to
protect the underside soffat of the deck slab.

Because this is very specialized work we have asked the Consultant to provide consulting
engineering for the preparation of the specifications, tendering to a short list of contractozs,
making recommendation to the City for award and inspecting the work. Their estimated fee for
this work is $11,300 including GST and contingency. .

There was $30,000.00 budgeted in the 1992 Public Works for this worl - $12,000 for consultants
and $18,000 for contract.
