That as recommended in the City Engineer's report of November 18th, 1977 coneerning the Coquitlam River bridge: il. The Engineering Department consult with the appropriate senior government authorities to determine the basic criteria which will govern the design and construction of a bridge. 2. The Engineering and Planning Department investigate, concurrently cc with 1 above, the most suitable location or locations of the bridge. 3. Proposals be obtained from engineering consultants covering the preliminary design and cost estimates, and the detailed design and tender call of a bridge. Carried. Alderman Traboulay expressed the opinion that the bus service mentioned previously shovld be reinstated and that a guard rail should be constructed along the sidewalk on the Lougheed Highway to ensure safety of pedestrians. Mayor Campbell advised he had not supported the resolution defeated earlier as it gave no details as to cost or engineering details, but nevertheless authorized the construction of a bridge whereas the second resolution would make cost and engineering details available to the Council. Alderman Ranger returned to the Council Chambers at 8:35 p.m. following passage of the above noted resolution. BY-LAWS: Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That By-law No. 1565 be reconsidered, finally passed and adopted. Carried. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That By-law No. 1570 be read a first time. Carvied. Aldermen Thompson and Traboulay voted against the resolution.
