To: Mayor & Aldermen February 18th, 1972 From: Alderman P.A. Meyer i | CG wr Report on Coquitlam River , i | ly 21 1972 On February 16th Alderman Bewley, representing the District of Coquitlam, and myself, held a meeting on the Coquitlam River. I submit the following agreed proposal for endorsation by this Council. A similar proposal is being submitted tonight to the District Council. "That a Committee consisting of Alderman Bewley and Alderman Meyer be established to provide recommendations for improvement of water quality in the Coquitlam River, which is currently in an unsatisfactory state, and for gravel operations in general in the two municipalities. This Conmittee will draw upon technical staff in the tro municipalities as required, as well as on other available expertise. It would report back to the two Councils upon completion of its mandate." For Council's further information, it is envisioned that the initial phase of activity will invelve assimilation of data and a trip along the River in early March. This will be followed by discussions with gravel operators, and. finally, the soliciting of opinions from other interested parties. an
