Dear Mr. Freaman: Thank you for your letter of May 23 and the copy of Mr. Thompson's report on pavement markings, At the present time the Council has a project in hand to review the recommendations contained in the Markings chapter of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada. The Chairman for the project is H.K, Walker, P. Eng., Traffic Planning Department, Department of Highways, Edmonton, Alta, I have forwarded & copy of ile report to him esking for the reasons behind tie Manual's recommendad length and spacing of broken-Jine segments, I note from the report that the practises in B.C. apparently do not comply with the recommended Canzdian Standurds, hcwever, even if they did, they would not include Mr. Thompson's recommendations, Please convey the Council's thanks to Mr, Thompson for his interest.
