City Engineer SUBJECT: CLOSURE OF PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALK ON MARPOLE ACTUATION OF NEW TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT WILSONSHAUGHNESSY That Council approve the closure of the crosswalk at Shaughnessy and Marpole as of September 17, 1992, BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: It is proposed to close the Shaughnessy/Marpole crosswalk as described in the memorandum from the Project/Traffic Technician dated June 21, 1992, The attached letter dated August 20, 1992 was circulated to businesses on Shaughnessy from Wilson to Whyte and on Marpole. There have been no objections received at the City Hall from businesses in the area to this crosswaik closure. It is recommended that the crosswalk at Marpole be closed on September 17, 1992 at the sarne time that the traffic lights at Wilson and Shaughnessy are actuated so that there is an alternate route for pedestrians wishing to cross Shaughnessy at this location. If this recommendation is approved, signs will be posted one week in advance notifying the public of the crosswalk closure and of the actuation of the new traffic lights.
