Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That as requested in a letter dated January 18th, 1975, the Boy Scouts of Canada be granted permission to: (a) hold its annual PoCo Trek ~ "Walking for Scouting" ~- on Saturday, April 19th, 1975, starting at 10:00 a.m; (b) use the Agricultural Hall from 7:00 a.n. to 5:00 p.m. on that day as a base for the Walk; (c) display a banner over the underpass on Shaughnessy Street for a two-week period commencing Monday, April 7th to Saturday, April 19th, 1975, inclusive, for the purpose of announcing the event. Carried. REPORTS: From Mayor J.M. Campbell, January 22nd, 1975, reporting on his Maycr Campbell re attendance at the January 22nd, 1975 Greater Vancouver Sever & Water G.V. Sewer & | Water Dist. District Meeting, and advising: meeting-Jan. 22/75. (a) the Planning Committee is meeting with the City and District of Langley on January 30th, 1975 with respect to servicing. Mayor Campbell, in his report mentioned that because the “Langleys" are not in the G.V.R.D., member municipalities will have no say in the planning and that a population of between 150,000 to 200,000 is foreseen for that area in the next five years. (b) the plant on Annacis Island should be in operation by May. A discussion ensued, and Alderman Laking pointed out that it will be very costly to extend services to the Lan--2ys through Surrey, and that he would like to know what the plans ate with respect to servicing and transportation, Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That a letter be sent to the Greater Vancouver Regional District requesting information concerning the problems inherent in the G.V.R.D. supplying water and sewer services to the City and District of Langley, particularly with respect to planning co-ordination, by~passed vacant land, as well as the transportation aspect for that area.
